Traveling By Flight

Traveling By Flight

Is it safe to fly?

YES!

Here's why:

But what about terrorism? What about the incidents that pop up on the nightly news? Perhaps flying used to be safe, but not anymore... right?

Wrong. We are safer now than we have been, safer than we've ever been!

But what about the amount of incidents? Surely, if you add up all the flight incidents that cause people such fear, you'll find that there are so many flights, right?

Again, wrong! Look as hard as you can, but you won't find a lick of blue! Because there are so many incidents that happen by car, in comparison, you won't find any of airplanes.

Now how about fatalities? Suppose an incident happens, how likely are you to die from the incident? It's easy to guess that because airplanes are high up in the air, that deaths would swap and that fatalities by air would be much higher. Instead, this tells another story.

The course so far. (11/08)

The course so far at Introduction to Mass Communications with Professor Nneji is not a bad course. On the contrary, it forces me to provide the best thoughts of the arsenal that I call my brain in order to think critically of the world around us and how the mass media in this world that we take for granted comprises and perhaps even influences our decisions.  He is stern; he is tough but fair and I believe that he is not satisfied unless what we bring to him is a solid piece of work from the intellect that he knows we have, whether or not we have a conscious awareness of that within ourselves.

Of course, this class is not perfect and while great in its own merit, it does have opportunities in which to be even better.  A thought that I have to better this course is to have more discussion topics.  As this is one of the most prominent and widely take communications courses, having a chance to put what we learn into action may be very beneficial, as opposed to simply learning about topics and learning techniques in person.
